Laser Skin Resurfacing

Sun damage, acne, and aging can leave scars, wrinkles, and abnormal pigmentation that makes you look older than you feel.

Laser skin resurfacing can treat imperfections by eliminating the top layers of skin and encouraging collagen production.

What can laser skin resurfacing do for me?

Beautiful Skin and Improved Confidence

Nonsurgical Treatment

While laser skin resurfacing can require downtime, it is far less invasive than a facelift or other surgical treatments.

Younger-Looking Skin

Because this treatment tightens and refreshes the skin, your skin will look healthier once you have healed.

Self-Esteem

Your face is your most prominent feature. If blemishes make you feel self-conscious, the results of laser resurfacing can boost your self-esteem.
But how can a laser make my skin gorgeous?

Can I afford laser resurfacing?
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons reports that the average cost of ablative laser skin resurfacing (removing the top layers of skin) is $2,124, while non-ablative resurfacing (heating the underlying skin tissue) costs about $1,114. Most insurance plans will not cover the procedure unless it is being used to treat certain scars (such as those resulting from surgery or traumatic injury) or to address medical issues, such as precancerous growths. However, most practices offer financing to help you budget for this treatment.

CO2 and Erbium Lasers

Erbium lasers are used in nonablative procedures, such as those used to treat minor blemishes. For more pronounced wrinkles or scars, doctors typically use CO2 lasers, which penetrate more deeply into the skin.

From Preparation to Healthier Skin

Your doctor will ask you to stop using meds or supplements that can cause clotting (such as Vitamin E and aspirin). You may be prescribed antibiotics as well. If you smoke, you should abstain for two weeks before and after treatment.

Treating the entire face takes about two hours. Isolated areas may only require 30 to 45 minutes.

What is the recovery like?

It Depends on the Extent of Treatment

Minor procedures may require just a few days away from work. More extensive procedures involving the C02 laser could require two weeks or more. In total, it may take as long as three months for redness to completely fade. After the first 24 hours of recovery, you will begin cleaning your face and applying a thick ointment about five times a day to prevent scabbing. You can expect some swelling, which can be controlled by applying an ice pack and sleeping with your head slightly elevated with an extra pillow.

A Refreshed, Rejuvenated Visage

Once the redness has subsided, you can expect your skin to look smoother, healthier, and younger. You can prolong the results of your resurfacing treatment by taking great care to avoid sun exposure and quit any tobacco use.
